To ensure your stoneware remains in pristine condition and performs at its best, it’s important to follow proper care and usage guidelines. In this blog, we’ll provide you with essential tips and expert advice on how to maintain and use your Le Creuset Stoneware, helping you to preserve its quality and enjoy its benefits. Whether you’re baking, serving, or storing, these guidelines will help you make the most of your stoneware collection.

How to Care For and Use Le Creuset Stoneware

Caring for Stoneware

1. Remove all packaging and labels.
2. Before use, wash the stoneware products in hot, soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly.
3. For most day-to-day cleaning, cool the dish for a few minutes, then wash and dry as above, or wash in the dishwasher, allowing the full cycle to complete.

Never leave a dish fully immersed in water. To remove stubborn residues, allow the dish to cool, fill it with warm, soapy water, and soak for 10 - 20 minutes. Wash in the usual way, using a plastic brush or scouring pad if necessary. DO NOT use any piece on cooker hobs or any other direct heat source.

Allow your Stoneware to cool down to room temperature before cleaning. Never plunge a hot dish, for example, directly into cold water, as it could crack.

2. Wash and Dry

For most day-to-day cleaning and care, hand wash your Stoneware in hot soapy water or wash in the dishwasher, allowing the full cycle to complete.

3. Remove Stubborn Residues

If there is any stubborn, stuck-on food you couldn’t remove in step 2, fill with warm, soapy water, and soak for 10 to 20 minutes. Wash in the usual way using a plastic brush or sponge.

After cleaning your Stoneware, make sure to rinse and dry it promptly. Now, if you want to learn the best practices for storing your Stoneware, keep reading for some more helpful tips!

Cooking with Stoneware

Whether cooking with smaller Stoneware pieces such as our Petite Casseroles or with larger pieces such as the Rectangular Stoneware Dish it is important to use and care for them correctly.

Never use any Stoneware pieces on the hob or direct heat source to avoid any damage. Our Stoneware pieces are incredibly versatile and can be safely used in the microwave, freezer, refrigerator, dishwasher, and oven, with a maximum oven-safe temperature of 500°F / 260°C. Remember to always use oven mitts when handling hot Stoneware.

A gap of a least 6.5cm should always be maintained between the rim of the dish and the heat source when using our ovenproof Stoneware under the grill to prevent the Stoneware from overheating. Always be cautious of hot handles and refrain form covering handles with plastic wrap.

Avoid placing a frozen dish directly into a preheated oven as this can affect even heating. Instead, allow the dish and the oven to heat up together by placing the frozen dish in a cold oven. Before serving, always check that the centre of the food is thoroughly heated.

Storing Stoneware

Ensure your Stoneware is completely dry after cleaning and before storing it. Hand dry it with a paper or kitchen towel, removing all water droplets.

Store it in a dry cupboard or an airy space. Alternatively, our Stoneware range can also be displayed on shelves or countertops to showcase their vibrant colours and adding a stylish touch to your kitchen décor.

By following these care and usage tips, you can ensure your Le Creuset Stoneware remains a cherished part of your kitchen for many delicious dishes. Proper maintenance not only preserves its beauty and functionality but also enhances your cooking and serving experience. Treat your stoneware with care, and it will continue to bring joy and reliability to your culinary adventures.
