Wash and dry the apple thoroughly. Using a sharp knife or mandoline, slice the apple as thinly as possible from top to bottom, leaving the skin intact to create naturally coloured edges. Discard the core pieces.
Combine ½ cup of water and ½ cup of caster sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer gently until the sugar has dissolved completely and a light syrup has formed.
Pour the syrup into a shallow dish and allow it to cool slightly. Add the apple slices to the syrup and soak for 2–3 minutes until soft and pliable.
Remove the slices from the syrup and allow any excess syrup to drain away.
Arrange 10–20 apple slices in a straight overlapping line, with each slice overlapping the previous by approximately one-third and the red skin facing upwards.
Starting from one end, carefully roll the slices into a tight spiral to create a rose. Gently fan out the outer slices to resemble delicate petals.
Place the apple rose into a Le Creuset Stoneware Mug. Brew the rose tea with 250ml freshly boiled water according to the tea bag instructions, then carefully pour the hot tea around the apple rose.
As the tea warms the apple, the petals will soften and gently bloom. Serve immediately.
