Cast iron skillets have long been treasured kitchen staples for stovetop frying and oven baking. This deep version features higher sidewalls that are helpful for deep frying, or any recipe that includes extra liquid or larger ingredients. Over time, the skillet's black interior enamel develops a natural patina that is ideal for searing and frying. Pour spouts on either side allow for drip-free pouring.
This skillet is enameled, and therefore does not require seasoning like traditional raw cast iron.
The skillet's interior is not raw cast iron, but is coated in a matte black enamel, which is specially formulated for searing and browning.
Although it may be washed in the dishwasher, hand washing is recommended to preserve the exterior enamel's shine and the interior enamel's natural patina. The patina enhances cooking results and should not be scrubbed off.
