How to Store Your Le Creuset Cookware

In an ideal world, every kitchen would have plenty of storage that would allow cookware to be stored in neat and tidy single rows. But the reality is that most kitchens are not equipped with nearly enough storage space, so it becomes a puzzle game of how to arrange it all to fit.

And while Le Creuset cookware is extremely durable – from our legendary enamelled cast iron to stainless steel, enamel on steel and even Toughened Non-Stick – any pot or pan can chip, scratch or get dinged without proper care when storing. So, to keep your cookware in excellent shape for many recipes and generations to come, we put together these helpful tips for how to store your Le Creuset cookware collection.

The Best Ways to Store Cookware

First off, ensure that cookware is thoroughly dry after washing (both inside and out) before storing. Then, place cookware in a dry cupboard or drawer, preferably in a single row and not stacked if possible. If the pot or pan has a lid, it’s best to store the pot with the lid on right-side up, and not upside down. Or store lids separately using drawer organisers to keep them separated and organised.

But we realise that most kitchens are not equipped with unlimited storage, or perhaps you have an extensive Le Creuset collection. If you must stack or nest cookware for storage, be sure to use our Cookware Protectors. They’re a great way to protect pots and pans in cabinets, drawers and on shelves. Tough and durable, these felt pan protectors provide a soft, cushioned layer to help prevent scratches.

Another option is to store cookware right on the stovetop, on elegant open shelving, suspended from a pot rack, or on a standing pot rack to proudly display your collection for all to see. But no matter where cookware is stored, be sure to keep pots and pans away from steam and moisture and away from places that may experience drastic temperature changes.

Cookware Storage Tips

Here are a few more of our favourite tips for organising and storing your Le Creuset cookware:

  • Try not to bang pots and pans together when storing to avoid chipping and scratching.
  • If you store a pot in the back of a cabinet, be sure to lift (not slide) the pot in order to reduce the risk of scratching the bottom.
  • If you don’t have Cookware Protectors, another option is to place a dishcloth, silicone trivet, shelf liner or even bubble wrap or paper towels between each pot or pan to avoid scratching.
  • If you must turn the lids upside down for stacking, use some kind of layer between the lid and the top of the pot in order to avoid scratches or chips.
  • Risers that are designed for cupboards and shelves are a great alternative as well and help to maximise the amount of space in your kitchen.
  • For pots with a lid, another clever idea is to keep the little plastic pot lid spacers that come with the pot. These help prevent chips and scratches on the top edge and also allow air to circulate inside the pot.
