Designed to coordinate with our iconic enamelled cast iron and stoneware baking and casserole dishes, each piece is finished with a colourful glaze that is non-porous. The smooth finish is non-reactive and will not absorb moisture, odour or flavour. It is also virtually nonstick for quick and easy cleanup, and also resists chips, scratches, cracking and crazing.
Stoneware Tabletop Tips
Here are some pro tips about our stoneware tabletop collection:
- All items in our stoneware collection are original designs, so each piece is unique and may have slight variations.
- Le Creuset stoneware is oven-safe, but note that it’s not safe to use on the stovetop or on any other direct heat source.
- The handles and edges of our plates and dishes may become hot during microwave use, especially if they are covered with plastic wrap.
- The glazed stoneware surface won’t absorb odours or flavours making it ideal for storing raw, cooked or marinated food in the fridge, and for storing and freezing leftovers.
- Almost all pieces in the collection are dishwasher-safe for quick and easy cleanup, as well as long-lasting durability. The only exceptions are accessories that have mixed materials, such as our wood-topped storage canisters.
- Note that over time, it is normal for metal utensils to leave marks on glazed stoneware. This is due to the fact that the flatware is softer than the glaze on the dishes. This is in no way a defect, are not permanent and can easily be removed with a cleaner like our Cast Iron Cleaner.
