Gift-Wrapping How-To

Love planning and shopping for gifts for all the special people in your life? Then you’ll love these interesting and on-trend ways to pretty up those gorgeous spoils. Le Creuset spoke to stylist and floral designer Traci Hainsworth for fresh and eye-catching ideas that both gift givers and receivers will love.

Out of the Ordinary

How Traci dresses her gifts to impress…
“I usually like to use plain papers – mostly black and then I bring in some colour with pretty yarns and ribbons laced across the gift in any pattern you care for – it’s an interesting departure from the traditional bow. A favourite gift of mine is to fill the storage jars with yummy treats – special chocolates, nougat or perhaps something homemade. And I always finish the gift off with a pretty coordinating ribbon and tag.”

Colour Splash

Traci shares how to make a statement playing with contrasting shades
“If you’re giving a wow Le Creuset gift in a beautiful colour – why not take it out of the box and wrap in a ribbon? You can keep the box to give to the recipient later. Sage is one of my current favourite Le Creuset colours and it pairs incredibly well with all the citrus shades – from lemon to tangerine and everything in between. You could fill a Sage stoneware dish or casserole with oranges and lemons and secure with a thick orange satin ribbon. Soireé is also a real showstopper and looks fantastic with gold – think luxury velvet ribbon and an impressive bow to top it off!”

Pretty Wrapping Details

Traci’s tips for some pretty present flourishes:
“Dried flowers and foliage are a huge trend currently and they are an easy way to add some wow to your gift. Think lots of texture – berries, seed pods, interesting leaves and grasses. Take it to the next level by adding a bit of gold spray paint – or even do a mixed metal look. You only need a few sprigs and it will look amazing – simply wrap your gifts in plain paper and add your vamped up sprigs to them.”

It’s the finishing touches that can add such a joyful layer of loveliness to your Le Creuset gifts. To view our full range, visit your nearest Le Creuset Boutique Store, or shop online at www.lecreuset.co.za.
