For the fifth consecutive year, Le Creuset has committed to assisting the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) with their Cuppa For CANSA campaign. We challenged customers all over the country to gather with friends and loved ones for a tea party, with the aim of raising awareness for the organisation.
Three fabulous prizes were up for grabs, including a R10 000 Le Creuset Gift Voucher for the overall winner and 2x Le Creuset Chiffon Pink tea hampers (consisting of a Teabag Holder, Large Milk Jug, Sugar Bowl, Classic Teapot, 2x Cappuccino Mugs, and Footed Cookie Bowl) for the runners-up.
We were overwhelmed by all the beautifully heart-warming entries we received, and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part in the campaign. Without further ado, here’s our selection of thoroughly deserving winners!*
WINNER: ELIZABETH HALL
“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but this year it holds even more significance than usual. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2011 and the end of October 2016 marks the end of my treatment – a journey I have been on for 5 years and 7 months. To celebrate my personal milestone I held a Cuppa for CANSA Tea- With-A-Difference on 8th October where 35 family and friends gathered to share, remember and celebrate.
By lighting candles, we remembered special people in our lives who had lost their battle with cancer. Later we wrote the names on angel cards, attaching them to helium balloons which we released outside all at the same time. Each guest was given an angel candle to take home to keep the memory alive.
Over a tea, where only healthy and sugar-free food was served, we shared stories and celebrated the precious, fragile gift of life. It was an affirming afternoon of celebration, gratitude, and hope. Being able to raise funds for CANSA at the same time made it even more meaningful.”
RUNNER-UP: AMY WHITE
“I hosted a Cuppa for CANSA through my company, Dessert Spoon, on Saturday 22 October 2016. I chose to honour my good family friend, Sarah McGregor, who was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. She has had a very tough two years as her husband was also diagnosed with Lymphoma at the same time as her own diagnosis. He sadly lost his battle to cancer last year December.
Unfortunately, Sarah fell ill on the Friday before the function and was unable to attend this special occasion. We did, however, have a toast for her and sent her a picture of everyone on the day. We held a raffle, of which all proceeds will be donated to CANSA, and we managed to raise over R1,000.00 for this worthy cause. There were 15 ladies who joined me and we had an absolute blast!
We had a huge array of tasty treats as well as delicious wine popsicles. I am an absolute Le Creuset fanatic and have been collecting many items for the past few years. I kept my colours mainly to the Chiffon Pink, Cool Mint and Soleil; and decorated my tables with fresh flowers, lots of pink and wooden words.
My sister-in-law owns a salon and treated guests to hand massages throughout the day – the ladies absolutely loved this! We also had plenty of spot prizes for the guests including vouchers and hampers.”
RUNNER-UP: HEATHER LORD
“This is a photograph of my husband, Richard, and myself celebrating my birthday with a tea last year, 24 October 2015, while he was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. This is the last photograph we have together as he lost the battle three days later on 27 October 2015.
As you can see he was smiling right to the end. He was the most amazing husband and father to our three children.”
